Understanding Possum Behaviour

Possums are nocturnal, arboreal marsupials known for their adaptability to urban environments, our most common species are the Brushtail and Ringtail Possum. They are primarily active at night, foraging for food like fruits, leaves, and insects. Possums will leave your property via our one way exits, and not be able to re enter in the morning. Possums are territorial and often seek shelter in roof spaces, attics, or trees. They are known for their ability to live in close proximity to humans, which sometimes leads to significant noise disturbance, bad odours, stains on ceilings, damage to roofs and also electrical wiring. Possums are protected by law, so humane removal methods such as our one way exits are essential for removing them safely and effectively.

Signs of a Possum

it can sometimes be difficult to differentiate between a possum problem and a potential rodent infestation, these are some keys signs it might be a possums you're sharing your house with:

- Noises and running in your roof around dusk and dawn

- Hissing and fighting sounds

- Movement during the day

- Damage to your roof eg. holes, roof tiles displaced and gnawing marks

- Possum fur trails

Camera and Motion Detection Technology

Sometimes we come across some impressive possum escape artists, in this case we use some of our motion sensor cameras to film the activity of the possum at night, to ensure we are locating the correct entry points. No job is too tricky for us!

FAQ'S

We use one way exits, the most proven and humane way to allow the possum to leave the roof; after sealing all possible entry points. Our team has trade experience and we only use premium materials that are weather proof and will last.

How long will it take?

Possums will usually leave the first night the one way exist is installed, occasionally they will leave on the second night. Possums need to exist your roof for food and water.

Can I get a discount, if I have multiple pest problem requests?

Discounts can definitely be arranged when combining multiple services, give at a call on 0428 388 398 to discuss further.

Where does the possum go after it's left our roof?

Possums will generally hang around outside for a short time after being evicted from your roof, eventually finding another home. We generally recommend installing a possum box in one of your trees on your property, this may sound counterproductive but providing a home for the possums will mean they are less inclined to try re-enter your home, Plus, it's important to look after our native animals.
